2019 Scholarship Applications
This December marks the beginning of the application period for MEC’s Scholarship Program. Our annual program offers eligible students the opportunity to compete for one of fourteen $1,000 scholarships. Two scholarship recipients will be awarded in each district within MEC’s service area. All active members of Missoula Electric Cooperative, or qualifying dependents, may apply for a scholarship.
Applicants who are not selected for one of the fourteen scholarships will be invited to attend our Annual Meeting where remaining applicants will be entered into a drawing for one additional $1,000 scholarship — you must be present to win.
Scholarship applications may be downloaded on our website at www.missoulaelectric.com. You will be required to include your account number and attach official school transcripts to your application (a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 is required). Please be sure to complete all sections and sign and date your application. Incomplete applications or applications containing errors will not be reviewed.
Completed applications must be received by 5pm on Monday, January 28, 2019. If you have questions, please contact Vickie at 541-4433.
Unclaimed Capital Credits Help Fund Scholarships
As a cooperative, we operate as a non-profit. Therefore, after all operating expenses are paid, we allocate remaining margins back to the members in the form of capital credits. With Board approval, Capital Credits are retired (paid out) periodically. Often, the intended recipient cannot be located and their capital credits go unclaimed. Because one of our core principles is education, unclaimed capital credits are applied to MEC’s education trust fund which helps to fund our annual scholarship program.
