Happy Holidays!

The holidays are a time of year to show our appreciation for others, celebrate with friends and family, and recall impactful moments, accomplishments and events from the past year. As I look back on 2019, there are many things I am proud of, but one particular event that stands out and that I feel grateful to have been a part in, were our Member Appreciation Celebrations this October. Our members are at the root of everything we do at Missoula Electric Cooperative, and having the opportunity to celebrate alongside them, was memorable.

In celebration of National Cooperative Month, and our valued members, we teamed up with fellow Co-Op, CHS Mountain West Cooperative (CHS), and Energy Partners (EP), a local propane company that our members collectively own, to host a series of Member Appreciation Events throughout the month of October. A combined 550 attendees joined us from MEC, CHS and EP, for a celebration in their respective district. This celebration came in the form of appetizers, libations, speeches and a lot of prizes… because, who doesn’t like prizes?

Hosting an event in each of your districts and having the opportunity to speak one-on-one with many of you, while celebrating a long-time partnership between Missoula Electric Cooperative, Energy Partners and CHS Mountain West Cooperative, created a fond memory and kicked off what we hope to become an annual tradition.

Thank you to our partners at CHS Mountain West Cooperative and Energy Partners for helping us plan and host these events and thank you to each and every one of you who joined us! I hope your takeaway from the event was that your cooperative is in a solid position for 2020, working hard for you every day, and has significant plans for the future.

Another accomplishment that tops the list for 2019, is the impressive award received by our subsidiary, Energy Partners. EP was recently awarded the 2019 Excellence in Safety Award from EMC Insurance. This award ranks EP as the #1 Propane Company in the Pacific Northwest for Safety. EP is the first-ever Excellence in Safety Award recipient in the Northwest, and it is safe to say that we could not be prouder!

The team at EP has worked diligently to ensure they continually deliver on their promise of safety. They do this with remote shut-down systems, proper documentation, formal protocols and processes and, most importantly, highly-qualified, properly trained employees. These accolades are further amplified by consistent communication within their team and with their customers.

These are just two of the various reasons 2019 was such a successful year! Our teams have many goals, objectives and priorities set for 2020 and I look forward to sharing those with you at our Annual Meeting on March 21st at the University Center Ballroom. Until then, from myself and the team at Missoula Electric Cooperative, Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!
