Apply For A Chance To Win Some “Dough”
Every December, MEC invites members (and/or dependents) to apply for one of seventeen $1,000 Scholarships. Our General Scholarship offers eligible students the opportunity to compete for one of fifteen $1,000 scholarships. All active members, and/or qualifying dependents, may apply for a scholarship. Two scholarship recipients will be awarded in each of MEC’s seven districts. Applicants who are not selected for one of the fourteen scholarships, will be invited to attend our 2021 Annual Meeting, where remaining applicants will be entered into a drawing for the final $1,000 scholarship – must be present to win.
MEC will also award two $1,000 Line Program Scholarships to local students who are currently attending, or who plan to attend, an accredited Line Program in the state of Montana. Both scholarship applications may be downloaded on our website. Scholarship applications are due by 5 pm on Monday, January 25th. If you have questions, please email kelseyl@meccoop.com.
As a cooperative, we operate as a non-profit. After operating expenses are paid, we allocate remaining margins back to members in the form of capital credits. With Board approval, capital credits are retired (paid out) periodically. Often, recipients can’t be located and their capital credits go unclaimed.
As a cooperative, one of our core principles is education, therefore unclaimed capital credits are applied to our Education Trust Fund, which helps fund our Annual Scholarship Program, as well as other educational programs.
