Before the sun rises and while most of us are still asleep, MEC’s lineworkers are often preparing for the day ahead. Their flame-resistant gear, safety goggles, rubber gloves, and heavy boots in tow, they stand ready to tackle the demanding tasks that ensure our communities remain powered.
On April 18, National Lineworker Appreciation Day gives us the opportunity to reflect on the essential role these dedicated professionals play in our daily lives. They are the backbone of our electric infrastructure, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to service, safety, and reliability.
Working high atop utility poles, MEC’s three line crews showcase a strength that extends beyond the physical. Whether facing extreme weather, rough terrain, troubleshooting complex technical issues, or responding to emergencies, their resilience and determination keep our homes comfortable, businesses operational, and communities connected.
Serving a vast seven-county service territory, our crews work tirelessly to build, maintain, and repair the electric system that powers our lives. Their expertise ensures not only the delivery of reliable electricity but also the seamless operation of critical services, from schools and hospitals to emergency response teams.
In times of crisis, when storms strike and outages occur, lineworkers become beacons of hope. Their swift and skillful response restores normalcy, offering comfort and reassurance to those in need. Our crews often answer the call to assist fellow cooperatives, traveling near and far to lend their expertise during widespread outages.
