Educational Co-Opportunities
As the school year kicks off and autumn leaves begin to fall, the Cooperative eagerly prepares to offer a host of educational opportunities. Whether you’re a student, educator, or school representative, there’s something for everyone to get excited about!
Bright Future Fund
MEC’s Bright Future Fund (BFF) program is dedicated to empowering local schools with the financial resources they need to enhance educational experiences. Schools can apply for grants that focus on educational development, with the added opportunity to secure a larger lump sum for Merit Projects—initiatives that offer significant value to students and the school community.
The application window for the BFF program opens next month and submissions will be accepted until mid-November. School Superintendents and/or Principals will receive detailed information and application timelines in October.
Scholarships
This fall, MEC members and their dependents — high school seniors and older — can apply for the Cooperative’s Educational Scholarships. Applicants are traditionally evaluated based on scholastic achievement, future goals, and community involvement, making this an excellent opportunity for a broad spectrum of students. Additionally, we offer two specialized Line Scholarships for students planning to attend an accredited line program in Montana.

2024 Youth Tour
Calling all high school sophomores and juniors! Would you like to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. next June? The 2025 Youth Tour could be your ticket!
Applications will be available on our website starting at 8 a.m. on Friday, November 1, and the deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Friday, November 29.
This year’s essay prompt:
“What was the most important event to have occurred in our nation during your lifetime? How did it affect you?”
Electrical Safety Presentations
Safety is the Cooperative’s top priority, therefore MEC’s Safety and Compliance Manager is available to deliver engaging and informative electrical safety presentations across our service area.
