Missoula Electric Cooperative’s Trustees, Management Staff, and Employees believe that being a good corporate citizen is an obligation to our Members. Each year representatives from MEC assist area schools through our participation in the following two programs:
The IEP (Improvements for Education) is funded from MEC unclaimed capital credits that are used for education purposes, instead of being escheated to the State of Montana. The program is used for schools in the Missoula Electric Cooperative service territory.
The EEE (Electronic Education Equipment) program is a joint venture between Missoula Electric Cooperative, Energy Partners, and Blackfoot Telephone Cooperative to provide schools with electronic education equipment. This program benefits schools that are attended by Members within their combined service territories.
MEC’s talented professional Lineman and engineering department employees also provide electric safety demonstrations for many entities including schools, volunteer fire departments, and other organizations.
We participate in school career day activities to demonstrate the opportunities that might be available to students who are interested in the cooperative electric distribution business.
We provide sponsorships for school yearbooks, athletic events, and other community projects within our allocated budget each year.
