Providing the closest MEC equipment identification number is necessary to determine if the subject property is in MEC’s service territory. This ID number consists of 10 digits representing the township, section, and range, with the last 4 digits identifying the specific piece of equipment. All MEC facilities, including poles, underground enclosures, and meter pedestals are tagged with an equipment ID number which will appear as black numbers on a yellow background (see examples below). If the parcel in question is difficult to find, please supply directions below. These will help our Staking Technician find the location.

You indicated the work requested is to install a new irrigation service. Please indicate the size motor to be installed.
Three phase motors larger than 40 hp must be equipped to limit current draw and voltage dip. Missoula Electric Cooperative restricts single phase motors to 10 hp or less.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. A $500.00 non-refundable Engineering Fee must be paid before a Staking Technician will conduct field staking, design work or generate a cost estimate. The fee will be credited towards construction costs.

2. MEC will provide a cost estimate, which will need to be paid prior to construction.

3. Applicant may be asked to provide a plot plan consisting of the following:

a. Well and/or water system

b. Sewer and/or septic system

c. Foundation

d. Roads and/or driveway

e. Any other non-utility owned facilities on the property.

4. Applicant shall apply for an electrical permit from the jurisdiction having authority where the property is located (i.e. State, City or County). In the city of Missoula or Missoula County, an electrical inspection is required before MEC will energize the service.

5. It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain an easement to MEC when crossing another individual's property. The Cooperative requires an easement when placing any primary line on your property; this easement will be drawn up by the Staking Technician and must be signed and notarized by the titled property owner(s).

6. Membership - To receive electrical service, you will need to become a member of the Cooperative. An application needs to be filled out. MEC will do an "Online Utility Check" to determine credit rating. A minimum deposit of $150 may be required to complete membership.

7. Once the job is released to Operations - a foreman will contact the applicant/landowner regarding the next steps and/or schedule a date for crews to construct/begin constructing the job.

MEC cannot guarantee construction after October 15th.

Note: jobs not completed before the last day of the calendar year, will be repriced at the beginning of the next construction season. Additional costs must be paid prior to scheduling construction.

8. All construction will be to MEC standards outlined in the Service Requirements Manual.

9. If line extensions are constructed in difficult or unforeseen conditions (rock, frost, etc.), MEC may require the Applicant to bear additional costs, after construction begins but before the service can be energized.

10. Consumer is responsible for all restoration.

11. Power is available when the service is energized. At that time, a monthly base charge, energy charge, and peak/demand charge for each completed service will apply.
