Ring In The New Year With A Scholarship!
Very merry, indeed! Every December, MEC invites members to apply for one of seventeen $1,000 Scholarships. Our General Scholarship offers eligible students the opportunity to compete for one of fifteen $1,000 scholarships. All active members, and/or qualifying dependents, may apply for a scholarship. Two scholarship recipients will be awarded in each of MEC’s seven districts. Applicants who are not selected for one of the fourteen scholarships, will be invited to attend our 2022 Annual Meeting, where remaining applicants will be entered into a drawing for the final $1,000 scholarship – must be present to win.
MEC will also award two $1,000 Line Program Scholarships to local students who are currently attending, or who plan to attend, an accredited Line Program in the state of Montana. Both applications are available on our website. All scholarship applications must be received by 5PM on Monday, January 31st. If you have questions, please email CarrieD@meccoop.com.
As a cooperative, we operate as a non-profit. After operating expenses are paid, we allocate remaining margins back to members in the form of capital credits. With Board approval, capital credits are retired (paid out) periodically. Often, recipients can’t be located and their capital credits go unclaimed.
As a cooperative, one of our core principles is education, therefore unclaimed capital credits are applied to our Education Trust Fund, which helps fund our Annual Scholarship Program, as well as other educational programs.
